Byrna was founded by a group of enthusiastic gun owners. Like many other responsible gun owners, however, they didn't know how quickly a person would pull the trigger when confronted with a potential threat. If he hesitated - would it be a fatal hesitation? And if he didn't hesitate - would he make a fatal mistake? They wanted a non-lethal option that was safe, effective and reliable.
The problem was that there was nothing available on the market that could stop an attacker at a distance and at the same time be easily carried concealed. The most compact less-lethal weapons, including everything from stun guns and batons to pepper spray and tasers, have a limited range beyond the necessary effectiveness of the weapon. The situation can spiral out of control in an instant.
As such, paintball guns were large and bulky and had serious limitations because they were never intended for self-defense. So they decided to create a small handheld device that was shaped like a pistol and could fire multiple rounds, was accurate to 60 feet (20m), and could effectively and reliably disarm and incapacitate an attacker. The result was the Byrna HD device, which launched in the summer of 2019. Since then, Byrna has sold more than 275,000 Byrna handheld launchers to general users. citizens, private security professionals and law enforcement officers. The company has since expanded its reach to all things "personal self-defense," including less-lethal rifles, bulletproof vests, bulletproof backpacks, aerosol sprays, personal security alarms and most recently, less-lethal 12-gauge ammunition.
In these uncertain times, ordinary citizens are often forced to be their own defenders. With Byrne's personal self-defense weapons, you can always be prepared to defend yourself and your family. Most importantly, there are no fatal mistakes (loss of life).

Exclusive distribution for the Czech Republic
As a rule, it is not possible to change the views of skeptics easily, but with Byrna the solution is easy, those who do not believe her, we will gladly convince "on the spot".
We certainly don't want to discourage anyone from using "edged" firearms. However, the benefits of Byrna are clear in everyday life. Granted that the price of an SD Max kit and a used firearm will be similar, but then you still have to add the cost of a firearms license, safe storage of the firearm, and the range - these costs are not incurred with the purchase and operation of a Byrna.
Byrna was founded by former soldiers and members of the U.S. armed forces who knew firsthand how challenging it is to pull the trigger and end a life in a timely and judicious manner. They came up with a concept where effective self-defense would become less lethal, yet effective. Every firearm owner using a firearm for self-defense should consider whether they are prepared to use and carry a firearm at virtually all times. In our experience, most firearms owners are aware of the risks associated with carrying a firearm on a daily basis and the liability associated with its potential use, but this leads to a situation where most carry a firearm only occasionally and unprepared to fire.
Imagine that you can have a gun that is ready to fire (just unholster it with your thumb), and no one should be seriously injured by its use under normal conditions.
If I were the owner of a firearm in such a situation, then at best we would both be pointing a "live" firearm at each other, and at that point the faster and more accurate shooter wins.
If I didn't have a gun on me, I don't think the outcome would have been happy.
If I carry Byrna, due to her faster actionability, I should be able to hit the attacker with the firearm sooner and then he is unable to bring the firearm into action.
Of course, this is largely a theoretical situation....
Maybe one and under certain conditions. This is probably where a lot of people will pause and stop reading, but let's imagine the following model situations where the use of a taser would not be very useful.
Comparison of taser vs Byrne:
This is not to say that the Byrna is a self-contained weapon, as with any self-defense tool it depends on the speed and proper manipulation of the user. Moreover, each variant is suitable for a different application.
All Byrna guns currently meet the definition of a category D weapon of Act No. 119/2002 Coll., so the only condition is the completion of 18 years old.

We have decided to change the current situation on the Czech market by spreading effective self-defence among as many people as possible. Our goal is to make every citizen of the Czech Republic feel safe and have the opportunity to decide their own fate.
